The Earth Systems Alliance's primary interceptor & air superiority fighter is the SX3 Trident, being named after the Trident of Poseidon from Greek mythology.

Overview
______________________________________________________

The SX3 Trident Interceptor was constructed two months before the Battle of the Citadel, and pressed into service one month before after passing every test with flying colors. It was designed to outgun what it couldn't outrun, and outrun what it couldn't outgun. It's maneuverability is nearly unmatched by all but the Asari's interceptors, and it has heavier weaponry than Turian fighters, making it a substantial opponent. Many organizations such as CAT6, The Blue Suns, Eclipse, and even the terrorist group Cerberus have been known to use this craft due to its versatility. Tridents usually group up in 'Wings' lead (usually) by an 'ace' pilot, consisting of up to 9 other fighters.


Armament

Tridents are equipped with two rapid-fire mass accelerators mounted in their wings, with the rate of fire matching an M-76 Revenant. They can also carry 4 Javelin torpedoes mounted under the wings, for use against heavier targets. The interceptor itself has kinetic barriers, which is atypical of most fighter craft, and is equipped with tlight yet extremely sturdy armor plating. Tridents require only one pilot, though a second may enter to control weaponry while the first focuses on piloting, though this is a rare occurrence.
