Bhyrindaar, God of Elvenkind
BHYRINDAAR, GOD OF ELVENKIND
Bhyrindaar, the God of Elvenkind, was the second being granted Godhood. He was the first emperor of the Alymer, and is sometimes referred to as First Emperor or the Anointed One. Bhyrindaar secured his Godhood in battle, during the Great Sieges of the Unconquerables, which was a series of sieges launched by Bhyrindaar against a kingdom of Dwarves known as the Dwarves of Ganatoria. These Dwarves were ferocious defenders, settling their castles and cities on high mountains with chokepoints and ambush zones at every turn.
Bhyrindaar, however, used unconventional tactics to achieve these seemingly impossible goals. The Anointed One had faced many wars and battles before the Great Sieges, yet this would surely be his greatest challenge.
The Dwarves held three castles and one major city. Castles Daretmad, Thranuc, Luldrag, and the capital city of Netgroun. Each would have to be conquered for Bhyrindaar's conquest to be complete.
Castle Daretmad was the first castle laid to siege. This fort had been sieged upon many times before, but all attempts were utter failures. The castle was high upon the mountain, with a single pathway to it. The castle itself had high walls, towers, trenches, and traps at the front, all to impede invaders. The castle had a signature execution post, a high drop off with no wall where the dwarves would kick their prisoner of wars off of. This drop off was far too steep for any invader to take, a three hundred kilometer drop down a straight cliff.
Or at least, the dwarves thought.
Bhyrindaar hired mercenaries to siege from the front. He adorned them in the armor of the Aylmer armies, fooling the dwarves into thinking that they were under siege. The dwarves, who had thought they had the situation in the bag, strolled to the defenses and began to slaughter the mercenaries with little effort. During this time, Bhyrindaar and five hundred other troops had already began the most treacherous climb in the history of Astrica. Over eighty elves had fallen to their death before reaching the top, carrying full armor, a weapon, and a shield, the only thing that they had to rely on was the strength of their armies and make shift ropes.
At last, Bhyrindaar and the now 415 troops he had with them launched a crippling flank on the elves that they had not prepared for at all. It was a slaughter. Bhyrindaar himself opened the front gates and allowed the remaining mercenaries in, together, they slaughtered every dwarf in the fort and kicked any prisoners off their iconic cliff.
Bhyrindaar sent the head of the fort commander to the dwarven capital city, where King Simrun Battlebane resided. It was a warning. King Battlebane ordered the increased defenses of all castles, and to prepare for total war.
The second castle, castle Luldrag, was captured without a fight. The castle, like Daretmad, was situated high on a mountain, completely surrounded and walled. There was a fatal flaw in the castle however, which was the lack of patrols at the eastern wall, as it had no path to it. In the night, Bhyrindaar himself led a group of 40 elves to infiltrate the castle. While they scaled the wall, Bhyrindaar's army of five thousand awaited for their signal. Bhyrindaar's special forces, known as the Infiltrators, scaled the wall and killed the sentries before they could raise the alarm. They used longbows and daggers to silently dispatch of the dwarves. They had then made their way to the barracks under the cover of the night, sabotaging it with explosives.
The Infiltrators crept along to the front gate, where they easily dispatched of the guards. It was at this time that one of the Aylmer were spotted, and a dwarf instantly raised the alarm. In a moment's notice, Bhyrindaar made a break for the gate, opening it as one of his men pulled out his own horn, blasting it through the night skies, signaling the main army to advance. It was at this time that hundreds and hundreds of dwarves begin to barrel out of their barracks as they activated the tripwires set up by Bhyrindaar. The explosion rocked the very mountain they were on, instantly killing most of the force. The dwarves scattered to the interior castle, and surrendered there upon the sight of Bhyrindaar's army.
The final castle, castle Luldrag, was annihiliated in open combat. Bhyrindaar fooled the dwarves, using his cunning and intelligence to his advantage. Forging a letter from the King with incredible accuracy and his re-created stamp, Bhyrindaar had sent a letter calling for the dwarves to send all their men to the capital at once. The dwarves made rank and marched out. After a mile, they ran head on to Bhyrindaar and his army. They stood parallel to each other, a messenger from the Aylmer rode to the dwarf general with a simple message.
"Prepare your dwarves, for we Aylmer make war." the messenger turned back, quickly riding back.
The Aylmer legions advanced upon the dwarves, who got into their best defensive formation, however -- they did not stand a chance against the drilled and fearless armies under Bhyrindaar. After the dwarves were crushed, Bhyrindaar occupied the castle.
All that had remained was the grand city. With over ten thousand dwarven troops suspected to be inside, and a population willing to fight to the death, invasion seemed like it would be suicidal. However, Bhyrindaar wanted the city, even if he had to do the impossible for it.
There are very few and rare cases in all of Astrica of utilizing a Leviathan to wage war, and this instance is the most extreme case. Bhyrindaar, Emperor of the Aylmer elves was able to mount and control a Leviathan. Bhyrindaar, with his new weapon of war, gathered eight thousand men and marched to the city of Netgroun. Upon the sight of Bhyrindaar riding the Leviathan, the dwarves denounced him as a demon and fled the walls out of pure terror. Uncontrollable and unpredictable, the Levithan began to spew flames into the city, killing hundreds upon hundreds. The dwarves began to deploy heavy ballistas and took aim at the Leviathan, however Bhyrindaar had already slid off its back and opened the gates. The Aylmer elves calmly marched in as the Levithan tore the city to pieces. By the time the dwarves killed it, the Aylmer had already laid to waste half of the city. A brutal two day battle ensued, but eventually, Bhyrindaar and his men made it to the castle with only two thousand casualties, compared to the dwarves thirty thousand. It is there that he slayed King Battlebane and expanded the Empire of the Aylmer by tripling their territory, and conquering the unconquerables.
It is this achievement that granted Bhyrindaar the position of God of Elvenkind.
